Environment and Climate

 

EUMETNET inherited on 1 January 1998, the ECSN (European Climate Support Network) Programme which had been established in 1992 and stopped in 1997. ECSN develops co-operative projects in the fields of climatic data bases, climate research and applications.

 

As a preliminary activity in the field of Environment, EUMETNET established WG-ENV, the Working Group for Environment. The task of this group is to analyse the present activities of the EUMETNET Members with a view to identify potential areas for co-operation and needs for specific Programmes in this field. WG-ENV, under the responsibility of the Deutscher Wetterdienst also maintains a liaison with the European Environment Agency.
