The Co-Ordination Office

The Co-ordination Office is operated as a EUMETNET Programme (see the Agreement for the definition of Programmes). Météo-France was selected as the Responsible Member for the Programme of the Co-ordination Office.
The tasks of the Co-ordination Office
The basic task of the Co-ordination Office is to support the work of the Council and of its Chairman. This entails the following:
  • to organise Council meetings,
  • to prepare and distribute the documentation for the meetings as required and in liaison with the Members responsible for Programmes,
  • to organise the flow of information between Council and Programmes, necessary for the monitoring of Programmes,
  • to be a permanent point of contact for the Programmes (as support of the Chairman of the Council),
  • to assist Members upon request in preparing Programme proposals, in particular for standardising as far as possible the contractual framework of the Programmes,
  • to follow the workings of the EC, and bodies such as the EEA, so as to establish the significance of their activities and rules to EUMETNET Programmes, and the opportunities they present to EUMETNET Members. Findings and recommendations are to be presented to Members,
  • when so authorized by council, to facilitate discussions between EUMETNET and the EC, and bodies such as the EEA, on matters relating to EUMETNET Programmes,
  • to alert EUMETNET Members to funding opportunities for EUMETNET Programmes,
  • to take a proactive role in monitoring the progress of Programmes between Council meetings,
  • to monitor an eventual contract with a company specialising in contacts with the European Commission,
  • to act as directed by the Chairman in other tasks, e.g. for drafting reports, liaison activities, etc...
  • to present a yearly report of activities.
